I know that it probably seems weird to be thinking about your school routine right now. Most parents are celebrating the end of the school year and the struggle to get kids to do homework or get them out the door in time. So why should we be thinking about our school routine right now?

The answer is not that we should be thinking about our school routine in particular, but that we need to be thinking about maintaining routines for our kids regardless of the time of the year. Routines help us maintain consistent expectations for our kids and give them a measure of predictability of our demands. Both key things for keeping a calmer household.
